Popping Up Boo!

If you are looking for a really cute project to do for just about any holiday, birthday or just about any fun time this is one of those "I have to make one of those"crafts.
Only thing is that they are addicting and you can't stop at just one. I got this idea from a blog that was posted on a craft board. It is a pop up match book box. The ghost lays flat down in the box but pops right up when opened.
It is fun and so easy to do. The box measures about 3 1/2 by 4 1/2 so it is pretty good size to hold all kinds of cute little things. I put stickers in it and sent it off for a prize on a swap board.
The little ghost pops up with a little scrap of window sheet. You know those little plastic see through flexible sheets. I cut a little piece of one and glued in onto the ghosts then to the front inside of the box. It lays down when closed and Pops right up when opened. How cute is that...

I can think of all kinds of things for pop ups..Let me know if you have any ideas or if you make some.I would love to see more ideas on these.
Have fun and thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

A Little Something Fun and Useful

A few weeks ago I received a newsletter from a scrapbook store and it had this idea in it. Well it has been hounding me day and night and I just had to give it a try today. It was high on the famous "TO Do List" that seems to be ever so growing steadily. I always have such good intentions of getting something on that list accomplished.
Today was the day for the candle jar lid. Yup, a candle jar lid that I usually throw right out in the trash. Not anymore. I took the round plastic thingy off the edge and then started cutting.
I started out by cutting out a free image I picked up from Dustin Pikes Blog of a really cute Santa. I then used Copic markers to color him in with. The glass makes the image look alot bigger too I might add. I cut out green card stock then applied the Santa onto it. All of it was then decoupaged to the outside of the glass lid ( the top) left it to dry really good then glued on felt.
After I knew it was all secure and good I used a little Snow Tex around the outside and placed a few red rhinestones and some ribbon.
The ideas just keep coming to me on all the possibilities you can use these for. You can put a little candy in them, hold paperclips or brads, They would be really cute for teachers too. Another Idea would be to use a photo and use for great gifts for parents and grandparents for Christmas.
Can you think of any other fun things you could use these lids for? Thanks for sharing in my fun time and I hope you will give it a try. Remember, I want to see if you do.

Owl Card

Looks like it has been forever since I have posted anything. I will say I have been hiding in my craft room since I have redone it ( that was a process)and it is nice to just go and play and get away from everything.
This one card was quick and easy and loads of fun. I cut it out with a cutter and it is backed with a orange color. It looks like it is yellow in the picture. I just love owls and was happy to get to cut this one out.
It is good to be back playing and blogging again. Thanks for looking and all comments are appreciated.

Another Fun Card

I saw this style of card done and can't remember where, guess that is suppose to be sign of age. Anyway, I had to try one and see if I could do it. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.
The front opens up crossways to reveal the message on the inside. Thought that was so cute.
Going to send this to a birthday girl this month. Hope she enjoys it as much as I had fun making it. I love this style and can't wait to try another one...
Oh almost forgot to tell you where the cute graphics came from. They are from Joy Hall, called My Mother My friend. You can get them at PC Crafter. Thanks for looking.

Another Challenge

Today was a good day to craft a card I needed for a friend, so thought I would also use it for the # 10 challenge over at the Pink Elephant. The theme this week is Colors... Pink, Green and Yellow.
I don't usually work with these colors so it was a big challenge for me. I have also been wanting to do some cards with different birds so thought this would be a good start for that too.

Large Yummy Cupcake

I wanted to share with you one of those really large cupcakes that seem to be a big hit lately.I have seen these pans and some real cute cakes over the internet. I do think this one is the prettiest ever.Of course,I am a little partial as it was made by a very dear friend who brought this it over for Easter. I was so amazed at just how pretty it is in person. The picture does not even do it justice. It's made with chocolate cake and pink yummy frosting inside.I will tell you it was sure hard to cut it. Didn't want to ruin it but knew it wasn't going to sit there and look pretty forever.
I have always wanted to do one of these cakes but I knowI could never make one as pretty and this one. Think I need another piece so better go get it. yum!

Blue Butterfly

I guess it's been awhile since I have blogged anything at all. It seems like spring has really got a hold of me as it is so nice to be outside doing little things in the yard and getting ready for a very hot summer that will be here shortly. It won't be long and it will be pool time and very little craft time.
The spring has brought us a 90 degree day so I stayed in and made this card for the Pink Elephant Challenge. I can't believe they are already on #9. The challenge is to use punches, stamps and embossing. I do believe I have a few more things going on as sometimes I dont know when to quit. I have a tendacy to fill up those cards..... I sure hope I didn't on this one.

This is also one of the cards I have have been making for a butterfly card swap over at PC Crafters so thought I would add this one in for the challenge.I have made a few and not sure what ones to do the swap with.Mightto have to keep making more until I figure it out
I hope you all Have a very blessed Easter.

Easter Box

I just love Spring time with all the pretty colors and all the pretty florals..
I have been playing again in my craft room and did up with this candy box for my Aunt for Easter.
The idea came from DeeDee at her cute blog Scrapping With DeeDee She made a gorgeous Easter box and I just had to try one. I love the way she did hers with the soft yellows.
I used the template from The Cutting Cafe' What a cute place to go for inspiration and template files. Another fun place to shop with great prices and lots of cute files.
The basket is filled with about 6 of the mini snickers bars. Yummy!my favorite! I Can't believe there were any left over. Did I say I love Spring because of the candy!

First Award

I am very excited to receive my very first award. Thank you Kathe from Katz Designz for making my day. I am not so sure how these awards work but I believe on this one you need to list 15 blogs to award this to and link back to the person who gave you the award.
This award acknowledges the value of every blogger which shows in their effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literacy and personal values everyday.

Here are the rules that was on Kaths blog

1. Accept the award, post it in your blog together with the name of person granted the award and his or her blog link.

2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgement. Remember to contact them to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

Thank you Kathe for being so sweet and thinking of me.

Friday, March 13, 2009

It seems like I have been in my craft room more this week then all year. I am loving this spring weather and it is putting me into the mood to craft. It finally gives me a chance to get my crafting supplies out and get busy. Better then it stashed in a bag at the back of the closet.

Here is a tote bag that holds lots of goodies such as a little note purse, pen, bookmark, candy bar wrapper ( have to buy another candy bar for it..ate the last one) and card. I made this for a thank you gift to a very special person who has been such a blessing to me.

The tote came from Daisie company and is purchased as a printable. It was nice to just cut and glue and decorate. The other items are a mixture of different artist and designs. You can see them better by clicking on the picture.

Thanks for letting me share some of my fun for the week. I think it is about time I clean a little before the next go-round.

Have a blessed week.
